HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) - The Horry County Coroner’s Officer has released the name of the victim killed in an early morning crash on Wednesday.

It happened around 9:07 a.m. on Highway 19 near Black Creek Road in the Nichols area.

A 2005 Chevy Tahoe crossed the median and hit a 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage head-on, according to Lance Cpl. Lena Butler with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

One of the vehicles involved also overturned, Horry County Fire Rescue said.

The driver of the Mitsubishi later died at the hospital, and the driver of the Chevy was not hurt, Butler said.

Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard identified the victim as 65-year-old Carrie Davis, of Dillon County. Davis died at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center from blunt force trauma associated with the accident.

The crash remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
