Pedestrian killed in Horry County crash identified as N.C. man
HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - The Horry County Coroner’s Office released the name of the pedestrian who was hit and killed in a Little River area crash.
Kasey Mayew, 32, of Calabash, North Carolina, died at the scene of the Tuesday night crash from “multiple blunt and traumatic injuries,” according to Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard.
Horry County Fire Rescue was called just before 11:30 p.m. to Highway 17 at Highway 179 for a single-vehicle crash involving a pedestrian.
A 2005 Ford Escape going north on Highway 17 hit Mayew who was walking east on the highway, according to Master Trooper William Bennett with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
The driver of the Ford was not hurt, Bennett said.
SCHP is also investigating another deadly Tuesday night crash in the Little River area.
