MARION COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - A tip from a “concerned citizen” led to an Arizona fugitive’s arrest in Marion County.

Carl Ottmann, 44, of Snowflake, Arizona, was taken into custody on Tuesday near Mullins by Marion County deputies.

Ottmann was wanted in Arizona for failure to appear on dangerous drug charges and failure to register as a sex offender, according to the sheriff’s office.

Sheriff Brian Wallace said this arrest is a prime example of “why we need community participation.”

“If you see something, say something,” the sheriff said. “A concerned citizen followed their instincts and called us about this man, now a wanted fugitive is off the streets. It takes all of us to make Marion County safe.”

Ottmann will be held at the Marion County Detention Center, awaiting extradition back to Arizona.

He’s not charged with any crimes in Marion County.
