Deputy grabbing lunch confronted Dillon grocery store shooting suspects
DILLON, SC (WMBF) - One Dillon County deputy’s actions helped put a stop to a “senseless crime” in broad daylight at a grocery store, authorities say.
The deputy went to the Subway beside Food Lion on Radford Boulevard around 1:50 p.m. on Friday.
As he got out of his car, the deputy heard a gunshot and saw someone shooting a gun in the parking lot.
That’s when the deputy called dispatch and ran over and ordered the person with the gun to drop their weapon, which they did. That person and another were then detained, according to the sheriff’s office.
Afterward, the deputy told officers about a car leaving the Food Lion parking lot.
The car led authorities on a short chase before entering the Rosewood Apartments, where four people got out of the car and ran away, the sheriff’s office said. All but one of them were taken into custody, the sheriff’s office said.
“This is a senseless crime in the middle of the day at a busy grocery store,” the sheriff’s office stated in a Facebook post. “Many innocent people could have gotten hurt or killed had it not been for the quick actions of these Deputies and Officers from the City of Dillon Police Department. Sheriff Hamilton thanks you for your dedication to the Citizens of Dillon County.”
The lead investigating agency in the case is the Dillon Police Department.
Police said four people, including one minor, were arrested. Their names and charges can be viewed in the list below. The name and charges of the minor were not released.
- Elijah Jevon Victor, 20, of Dillon, is charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

- Tamarion La’Quez Livingston, 18, of Dillon, is charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature.
