GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) - A Georgetown County deputy was involved in a crash Monday afternoon while in a chase with a stolen vehicle.

The Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were in pursuit of the stolen car on Martin Luther King Drive in Pawleys Island when one of the deputy vehicles was involved in a crash with a “civilian car.”

During the chase, the driver of the stolen vehicle crashed the car and the driver and another man ran into the woods and are still being tracked by the sheriff’s office K-9 unit. Two women who were also in the car were detained.

The deputy and driver involved in the crash were both taken for evaluation to the Grand Strand Hospital.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating both crashes.
