GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) - Georgetown County deputies were led on a chase by teens driving a car stolen out of Ohio, according to a report obtained by WMBF News.

In that report, the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office a camera registered a hit on a possible stolen vehicle Monday afternoon heading down Highway 17 Bypass into the county.

Authorities were later able to locate a car matching the description and initiated a traffic stop. A chase then began once the car failed to stop and headed into Pawleys Island.

The car also crossed over into oncoming traffic, causing an accident involving a deputy’s patrol vehicle. The deputy and driver involved in that crash were taken to a hospital for evaluation.

The suspect car, meanwhile, continued for a short distance before running off the road and wrecking.

Two male suspects and two female suspects then got out of the car, with the two females being detained after a short foot chase. The two male suspects, however, were able to get away after running into a wooded area near Stables Park. The two were not found after a search.

The vehicle was later confirmed stolen out of Ohio and was towed. Officers also found around 12 grams of a “green leafy substance” as well as a 9mm handgun.

One of the female suspects was identified as 18-year-old Trinity Benson, of Findlay, Ohio. Records show she was booked at the Georgetown County Detention Center after her arrest, but no charges have been listed.

The other female suspect was identified in the report as a juvenile. Deputies noted she was reported as missing/runaway from Ohio and was taken to the Department of Juvenile Justice in Columbia.

Meanwhile, one of the male suspects was identified as 19-year-old Payton Baldridge, of Arlington, Ohio. As of Tuesday afternoon, it’s unclear if he remains at large.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating both crashes.
