Hill has been the Horry County police chief since 2016. He came from the Fairfax County Police Department where he spent 28 years.
During his time with the department, he has teamed up with state and federal agencies to target violent crime in Horry County. In one of those instances, a years-long investigation led to the arrests of several members of the G-Shine gang, which is a subset of the Bloods gang that settled in the Longs area.
