MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) - Lottery officails say a ticket that won $50,000 was sold at a convenience store that recently opened in Horry County.

The South Carolina Education Lottery said the winner bought the Jumbo Bucks ticket on March 13 from a Refuel station on Highway 501. Notably, the ticket was number 13 at the store and the winning number also happened to be 13.

The lottery said the store only began selling tickets five days beforehand.

The winner told lottery officials she watched the store being built and was coming back from the airport when she saw it was open. She stopped in to get something to drink and decided to also get a ticket.

The winner also said she sat in her car and scratched off the win and texted loved ones to make sure she was seeing it right.

“They joked that 13 must be my lucky number,” she said.

The Refuel store received a $500 commission for selling the winning ticket. The odds of winning the top $50,000 prize in Jumbo Bucks is 1 in 600,000, with five remaining.
