4:30 P.M. UPDATE: The Golden Knights had to cancel their jump scheduled for Thursday due to weather in the area. It will not be rescheduled for the Myrtle Beach Classic.

Our original story on preparations for the jump can be viewed below.

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) - The U.S. Army Golden Knights are dropping in to kick off the first official day of the Myrtle Beach Classic.

The elite parachute team is just one of three that perform all across the country, and on Thursday night they’re bringing their skills to the Grand Strand’s first PGA tour event.

Eight members will fall from the sky showing off their tricks and spins at up to 120 miles per hour.

Parachutist Nahu Ramirez has more than 1,000 jumps under his belt.

He said they spend two months each year in Florida training. The group jumps six days a week and 10-12 times a day.

Ramirez said all the hard work pays off to put on the best show for you.

“As soon as you exit the plane it’s like second nature,” Ramirez said. You’re out there, ready to work, and trying to perform for everybody and make sure that everything is perfect.”
