MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) – A Myrtle Beach motel that had part of its roof blown off is now facing legal trouble.

The 15th Circuit solicitor filed a temporary injunction request on Friday against Southern Breeze and Summer Wind motels.

The two buildings are located right next to each other along South Ocean Boulevard and operate as one motel.

The documents show that the solicitor’s office served a written notice to the business stating it is a public nuisance. But more than 10 days have passed and the owners have not responded.

The filing states that since the owners purchased the Southern Breeze and Summer Wind in 2021 there has been little management or oversight of the business operations at the motels.

“In this vacuum, drug activity and breaches of the peace have become rampant at these locations,” according to court documents.

WMBF News has reached out to the Myrtle Beach Police Department asking for a list of calls to service to the property. We’re waiting to hear back.

Back in April, Summer Winds was in the middle of repair work when strong winds from a storm blew off part of its roof.

It was discovered that Summer Winds and Southern Breeze were both operating without a business license. The motels were cited by the city because it found that people were living at the properties.

WMBF News Reporter Teagan Brown captured this video of officials at the scene of a roof collapse in Myrtle Beach back in April.
