CONWAY, S.C. (WMBF) - Longtime Coastal Carolina baseball coach Gary Gilmore will be honored by the team ahead of his retirement.

The program will hold a ceremony for Gilmore on Saturday starting at 1:30 p.m. before the Chanticleers take on Georgia State in the weekend series.

Gilmore has spent 29 years at the helm of the baseball program, leading Coastal to 18 NCAA Regionals, three NCAA Super Regionals and the 2016 national championship at the College World Series. The program has also won 26 combined conference regular season and tournament titles under Gilmore.

Gilmore also found success at USC Aiken, where he led that program to the NCAA Division II College World Series in 1993.

Saturday’s ceremony will feature guest speakers, tribute videos, special presentations and special surprises for the coach affectionately known as “Gilley.”
