Spanish teacher named Horry County Schools teacher of the year

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) - A new top educator has been announced for Horry County Schools.
HCS spokesperson Lisa Bourcier said the 2025 teacher of the year is a Spanish teacher from the Academy for the Arts, Science & Technology, Joey Hernandez.
Hernandez was one of 55 teachers in the district recognized as a nominee voted in by his peers for the elite honor.
Other top 5 finalists included teachers from Conway Elementary School, Loris High School, Socastee Elementary School, and St. James Middle School.
