MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) - Former South Carolina Gov. and presidential candidate Nikki Haley is again calling for a debate with Republican primary challenger Donald Trump after comments he made on Saturday.

“Where’s her husband? He’s away,” Trump said during a rally at Coastal Carolina University. “What happened to her husband? Where is he? He’s gone.”

Haley responded on X saying her husband, Michael, was currently deployed as part of his military service. She took aim at Trump again during a campaign event in Lexington later in the day.

“In that rally, he mocked my husband’s military service. And I’ll say this: Donald if you have something to say, don’t say it behind my back. Get on a debate stage and say it to my face,” she said before a crowd of supporters.

Early voting in the South Carolina Republican Primary begins Monday.
