HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) - A man has died after a truck drove into a tree early Sunday in Horry County.

Master Trooper William Bennett with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said the wreck happened at around 4 a.m. in the area of Jordanville Road, just south of Aynor.

Bennett said a 2005 Chevrolet pickup was heading east on the road when it ran off to the left and struck a tree.

The driver of the truck died at the scene. Horry County Deputy Coroner Patty Bellamy later identified the driver as 37-year-old Frederick “Dustin” Cumbie, of Galivants Ferry.

Bellamy added the truck was pulling a boat at the time of the wreck.

A passenger in the truck was not hurt, according to Bennett.

No further details were immediately available.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating.
