U.S. Marshals task force officer, UNC Pembroke alumnus laid to rest
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WMBF/WBTV) – An officer who was killed while keeping others safe was laid to rest on Monday.
Sam Poloche was one of four officers killed in the line of duty on April 29 while attempting to serve a warrant in Charlotte. He was a task force officer assigned to the U.S. Marshals Carolinas Regional Fugitive Task Force.
Poloche graduated from the University of North Carolina Pembroke in 2009 with a criminal justice degree. He also worked for the North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections for 14 years.

A caisson carried Poloche’s body to the service at First Baptist Church in uptown Charlotte. The funeral was held at 1 p.m. where law enforcement officers from across the state attended. North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper was also in attendance, according to WBTV, our sister station in Charlotte.
According to his obituary, Poloche was born in Venezuela but moved to the United States when he was a baby and grew up in Florida. He leaves behind a wife and two children.
