HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) - A 20-year-old charged with murder in Horry County is now out of jail.

Records show 20-year-old Tre’Shawn Davis bonded out Friday after a judge granted him a $100,000 bond on Thursday. Davis is accused of shooting and killing 19-year-old Mic’Kell Grisset in January.

According to a police report, Davis allegedly shot Grisset on Cheryl Road in Loris - an incident where Davis’ attorney, Brad Richardson, argued his client shot in self-defense. A second person was also hurt in the shooting.

Richardson stated during Thursday’s hearing that Davis dropped his girlfriend off at home, but was met by a large group of people outside and was attacked.

“He was defending himself,” said Richardson. “It was a horrible situation. He’s been patiently waiting since January for his bond hearing. But he’s not mad or frustrated. He’s actually trying to get closer to God.”

Grissett’s family spoke during the bond hearing and asked the judge to have mercy on Davis and that they forgive him.

In addition to murder, Davis is charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

As part of his bond, Davis is required to wear a GPS monitor and is not allowed to own any firearms.

A trial date has not been scheduled.
