Officials detail traffic plans for Myrtle Beach Classic
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) - With the Myrtle Beach Classic teeing off in less than two weeks, the Grand Strand is getting ready to welcome thousands of golf fans to the PGA Tour event.
Shuttles will transport spectators from the old Myrtle Square Mall parking lot to the Dunes Golf and Beach Club
Myrtle Beach Emergency Manager Travis Glaki says the city has been working closely with Horry County to lay out a safety plan and will focus on traffic.
While no major road closures are expected throughout the weekend, Glaki says Horry County will handle most of the safety preparations on the golf course since it’s in their jurisdiction.
Glaki says with thousands expected in town for the Myrtle Beach Classic, spectators should be patient and plan accordingly.
“We just want people to adhere to the traffic and we will keep everyone up-to-date as much as possible,” he said.
Rideshare drop-off will also be located at the Myrtle Square Mall, no vehicles will be able to enter the the event.
Parking is not included with any ticket and can be purchased online in advance.
