FIRST ALERT: Last warm day, showers and storms Wednesday morning
MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Today is our last warm day of the week before the approaching cold front brings showers and storms, followed by a cooler shot of air for the end of the week.
WARM TODAY
We’re stepping out the door to early summer temperatures with most of us sitting in the mid-upper 60s this morning. A stiff southwest wind and higher-level clouds have kept us mild overnight. This will only allow for the temperatures to climb quick as we head throughout the day.

As we head into the afternoon hours, another round of 80-degree weather is expected for inland locations. We’ll reach the low-mid 80s inland with the beaches reaching near 80 degrees. We’ll hold onto more of the higher level clouds today before clouds thicken up ahead of our next weather maker.

APRIL SHOWERS ARRIVE WEDNESDAY
Our next weather-maker is a cold front that arrives Wednesday morning. The front will be approaching early in the day, focusing on the best chance for showers and a few isolated thunderstorms through the mid to late morning. While a few thunderstorms with gusty winds are possible, the latest data suggests that our severe weather threat remains low with this setup.

We remain in a LEVEL 1 severe weather risk for tomorrow, which is just a very low risk for severe weather. Once again, the timing of these storms is keeping the worst of the weather away. Better severe weather chances exists across Eastern North Carolina as these storms move into that area during the afternoon, where they have enough time to build storm fuel & energy for severe weather. Good news for us here in the Grand Strand!

Thankfully, the worst of the rain will come to an end by the middle of the day. Drier air will begin to move into the area, ending our rain chances completely by the middle of the afternoon. With more clouds and passing showers, temperatures will be a bit cooler with highs in the low-middle 70s.

BIG CHANGES AHEAD
Drier and cooler air will move in behind the cold front Wednesday night, ushering in big changes for the end of the work week.
Our temperatures will fall below normal with afternoon highs only reaching the low-middle 60s Thursday through the weekend. In addition to this, the nights will be cool with overnight lows by the middle and end of the week, dropping into the lower 40s near the beaches and upper 30s inland.

At this point, no frost is expected. We’ll let you know if that changes.
