FIRST ALERT: Clouds return Tuesday, strong storms possible later this week
MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - It’s not the moon but the clouds blocking the sun on Tuesday.
TUESDAY CLOUDS
Clouds will increase in a hurry overnight, turning mostly cloudy throughout Tuesday. Despite the clouds, rain chances remain slim. Outside of an isolated shower, most of us stay dry.
Warm weather continues as afternoon highs climb back into the 70s Tuesday afternoon.

STORMS THURSDAY
We’re highlighting Thursday red for the potential for strong to severe storms. The Storm Prediction Center has placed our area under a LEVEL TWO risk for severe storms on Thursday. There’s still a lot that needs to be worked out, though.

A cold front will work into the Carolinas, bringing showers and storms late into the afternoon and evening hours.

Just off the initial look of this system, we’re looking at plenty of spin (shear) in the atmosphere but limited storm fuel. It’s a pretty typical look for early spring, but it still needs to be watched as we head into Thursday afternoon and evening.

At this point, damaging winds are the main threat in any strong storm Thursday. An isolated tornado or two will remain possible with enough spin in the atmosphere.
Keep in mind we’re still four days away from this, so details will become a little bit more clear as we head into Thursday.
