FIRST ALERT: NWS confirms tornado hit Marlboro Co.; no tornado damage found in Georgetown Co.

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) - The National Weather Service confirmed a fifth tornado hit our area on Tuesday night.

NWS crews went out to Marlboro County on Thursday morning where they found EF-0 tornado damage in the Blenheim area. Crews will provide more details on the tornado such as the wind speeds, the size and how far it traveled at a later time.

Meanwhile, NWS crews also conducted a survey out in Georgetown County but did not find any tornado damage after there was a tornado warning for the area on Wednesday night.

Here’s a look at the reports of large hail and a possible tornado after severe weather moved through the area Wednesday.

Reports of large hail and strong winds were widespread on Wednesday and strong circulation in Georgetown County prompted a tornado warning. While no damage reports have been received, Georgetown County Emergency Management received a report of a possible tornado near a remote area of Winyah Bay.

The National Weather Service found no damage to be reported and concluded that there was NO tornado on Wednesday night in Georgetown County.
