HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) – A three-car crash led to a fiery crash on Thursday in the Surfside Beach area.

Viewers sent in pictures showing a car on fire along Highway 17 Bypass at Coventry Road.

Horry County Fire Rescue said its crews have responded to the area and the fire has been extinguished and the incident is under control.

The agency said one person was taken to the hospital with injuries.

The South Carolina Department of Transportation traffic information page shows that all lanes in the area are blocked.

Drivers are being asked to avoid the area and find alternate routes in order to avoid delays and also to keep the first responders on the scene safe while they investigate and clear the area.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the crash, and Horry County Police Department and Surfside Beach Fire Department are also on the scene assisting.
