Warrants: Pee Dee man handcuffed, tied girl to bed to sexually assault her

FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) - A 52-year-old Florence man is facing charges in connection to an armed home invasion where a girl was sexually assaulted.

Dewayne Mcclain is accused of entering someone’s Florence home around 2 a.m. on Dec. 9, 2023.

A female minor saw Mcclain enter, and Mcclain used a gun to force his way in, according to arrest warrants.

Mcclain then forced the girl into a bedroom, where he handcuffed and tied her to a bed and sexually assaulted her, the warrants allege.

Afterward, Mcclain found an envelope with $9,600 in cash, allegedly taking the money and running away from the home.

DNA samples were taken from a sexual assault kit. The results were a positive match to Mcclain, the warrants state.

Florence police charge McClain with kidnapping, first-degree criminal sexual assault, grand larceny, value $5000 or more and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

Capt. Stephen Starling said McClain was arrested on Thursday. He is currently booked in the Florence County Detention Center.
