Darlington County deputies find woman dead in car with gunshot wounds; 1 arrested

DARLINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) – Deputies arrested a man accused of shooting a woman multiple times inside a car in Darlington County.

Authorities were called back on Feb. 14 to the 400 block of Gilchrist Road for a shooting.

When deputies arrived on the scene, they found a car with several bullet holes off the road in a ditch.

They said a woman’s body was inside the car and appeared to have been shot several times.

Darlington County Coroner Todd Hardee identified the woman as 18-year-old Roxianne Smith.

An investigation led deputies to arrest Jameare Nero.

He is charged with murder, criminal conspiracy, possession of a weapon during a violent crime and discharging a firearm into a vehicle.

Warrants show that there are two other suspects in the case. At this time, they have not been arrested.

The Darlington County Sheriff’s Office said the investigation is ongoing.
