GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) – The man wanted in connection to a deadly shooting at an Andrews apartment is behind bars.

Jazwon Gamble, 28, turned himself in on Sunday and was booked into the Georgetown County Detention Center.

Georgetown County deputies wanted him on an attempted murder charge in connection to a deadly shooting at the Arbor Place Apartments on North Beech Street.

During the investigation, they learned a man was visiting a woman at the Arbor Place Apartments on Wednesday when Jamar McClary came to the apartment. McClary was the woman’s ex-boyfriend.

Investigators said there was a confrontation between the two men.

Authorities learned that McClary threatened to shoot the other man and reached for a gun in his pocket, but the man pulled out his gun and shot first.

Investigators also learned a third person was waiting downstairs and shot into the apartment after seeing the confrontation between the two men.

The sheriff’s office identified the third person as Gamble.

As for the investigation into the deadly shooting, investigators said they interviewed witnesses, reviewed surveillance video from the apartment complex and collected evidence including McClary’s firearm. Authorities added that the man who pulled the trigger provided the sheriff’s office with a statement and surrendered his gun.

The sheriff’s office spoke with a deputy solicitor with the 15th Circuit Solicitor’s office, and determined the circumstances fall under the “Stand Your Ground Law.”

The sheriff’s office said while the investigation into the deadly shooting is ongoing, there will be no charges filed against the man who shot and killed McClary due to him firing the shot in self-defense.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office at 843-546-5102.
