Medical examiner releases findings in North Myrtle Beach murder investigation
NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) – How a Georgia woman was allegedly killed in North Myrtle Beach remains a mystery.
Pat Bailey, the director at the Dekalb County Medical Examiner in Georgia, ruled Kristin Laymon’s manner and cause of death as “undetermined.” Bailey added that their findings are inconsistent with police findings in the case.
Bailey said that his office only had a few skeletal remains to work with and, because of that, they had no conclusive evidence on how she died.
He added that his office also brought in an anthropologist to help with their investigation.
Family members reported Laymon missing on Oct. 9, but she had not been seen or heard from since Sept. 8.

Laymon’s daughter learned through her mother’s email that she had booked a stay at Club Wyndham in North Myrtle Beach for Sept. 22 through the 24.
Laymon’s daughter also received an alert that her mother got a speeding ticket in Marion County while heading to North Myrtle Beach. A police report states that the court date for the speeding ticket was on Nov. 7, so family members drove from Georgia to Marion County in hopes of seeing Laymon. But when Laymon didn’t show up to the court hearing, family members went to the Wyndham to gather more information about her stay there, according to the police report.
North Myrtle Beach police learned through interviews with hotel employees that Laymon was staying with Bornold Eberhart at the resort.

During the investigation, police determined the two got into a fight and Laymon was last seen alive at 2:12 a.m. on Sept. 23 while getting into an elevator at the resort.
Investigators allege that Eberhart killed Laymon on that day and then drove her dead body back with him to Dekalb County, Georgia.
Police arrested Eberhart in early March and extradited him to North Myrtle Beach where he is charged with murder.
Laymon’s body was found days after Eberhat’s arrest in Dekalb County.
