NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) – Newly obtained video allegedly shows a murder suspect leaving a North Myrtle Beach hotel alone a couple of days after checking in with a missing woman.

The 15th Circuit Solicitor’s Office released surveillance video from the parking garage at the Club Wyndham along Ocean Boulevard. It is dated just before 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 24, 2023.

In the top right corner of the video, it shows a man, who is suspected of being Bornold Eberhart, rolling a luggage cart to an SUV. He then puts two dark-colored bags and then a big white bag in the trunk of the car.

The 15th Circuit Solicitor’s Office released surveillance video from the parking garage at the Club Wyndham along Ocean Boulevard.

The car sits in the parking spot for about five minutes and then drives away.

Eberhart is accused of killing Kristin Laymon in September while the two were visiting North Myrtle Beach together. Both are from Georgia.

The 15th Solicitor’s Office released the video as part of a Freedom of Information Act request made by WMBF News.

“The State is very limited on out of court statements while charges are pending, therefore we will not have additional comments on the video except to say that all defendants are presumed innocent and that presumption stays with them until their cases are resolved,” the solicitor’s office said in an email.

THE INVESTIGATION

The investigation into Laymon’s case began in October in Georgia when family members reported her missing.

According to an incident report, Laymon’s daughter, Lauren Blaylock, told officers she had access to her mother’s email and noticed she had booked a stay at Club Wyndham for Sept. 22 through the 24. She also received notices in the mail that her mom received a speeding ticket in Marion County on Sept. 22.

RELATED COVERAGE:

The report states that the court date for the speeding ticket was on Nov. 7, so Blaylock and Laymon’s brother drove from Georgia to Marion County in hopes of seeing the victim. But when Laymon didn’t show up to the court hearing, the two went to the Wyndham to gather more information about her stay there, according to the incident report.

North Myrtle Beach police got involved on Nov. 8 and spoke with an assistant general manager at the hotel who said that Laymon and Eberhart checked into the hotel on Sept. 22. The assistant GM added that they do not let any other person check in other than the person who made the reservation.

The assistant GM told officers that they checked out around 11 a.m. on Sept. 24.

During the investigation, police determined the two got into a fight and Laymon was last seen alive at 2:12 a.m. on Sept. 23 while getting into an elevator at the resort.

Investigators allege that Eberhart killed Laymon on that day and then drove her dead body back with him to Dekalb County, Georgia.

Police arrested Eberhart in early March and extradited him to North Myrtle Beach where he is charged with murder.

Laymon’s body was found days after Eberhat’s arrest in Dekalb County.

The Dekalb County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled Laymon’s manner and cause of death as “undetermined,” which the director said is inconsistent with the police findings.
