“Yes, it’s been a year, but it’s like it just happened because I don’t have any closure,” Kaleb’s mom, Jenna Gore said. “I couldn’t say goodbye. I couldn’t do anything. When I saw him next, he was gone.”
His grandma, Joyce Gore, told WMBF News her family is beyond upset and feels they’re being left in the dark by Horry County Police.
“That was our family and we loved him, dearly,” she said. “He was taken from us at 14 years old. Too young. I mean he can’t speak for himself. But, that’s why we’re here, to speak for him.”
Horry County police said they got a call around midnight on Saturday, April 29, 2023, to what used to be the One N Done bar. The bar now renamed Cosmos, is located off Highway 544 near Cox Ferry Road.
No victims were found at the scene when officers arrived. A short time later, police discovered two people had shown up at the hospital.
Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard identified Brown and said he died from a gunshot wound to the head at Seacoast Medical Center.
WMBF News asked Horry County police for an update on Brown’s case. A spokesperson responded stating his case is still an active investigation.
To learn more, WMBF News sent another email asking for additional details.
“As with any case, arrests occur when the individual or individuals that evidence indicates may be responsible are identified and located,” a spokesperson for the police department said.
