MULLINS, S.C. (WMBF) - We’re continuing to highlight inspiring people in our community this Black History Month.

This week, WMBF News Today Anchor Derrion Henderson and reporter Julia Richardson head to the Pee Dee to meet Miko Pickett, founder of the Pick 42 Foundation.

The foundation serves the community in a variety of ways, from hosting farmers’ markets to family game nights - and even providing rides to the VA for veterans as well as exercise classes for senior citizens.

Pickett started the foundation with her husband for a Christmas toy drive in Charlotte. After moving to Mullins, however, Pickett and her family decided it was time to act after coming face to face with countless disparities.

This week’s episode can be found on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube and WMBF’s apps on Roku, Amazon Fire TV and Apple TV.
