Nearly 300 lbs of trash picked up at Myrtle Beach park for Earth Day
MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Keep Myrtle Beach Beautiful celebrated Earth Day by heading out with volunteers to Withers Swash Park to make an impact.
The program said they brought out almost 30 volunteers on Monday morning and gathered almost 300 pounds of trash.
In addition to picking up trash, they also planted flowers and added mulch by two park signs.
Miss Myrtle Beach Brooke Vu joined the group to help out, saying it means a lot to her.
“All the hard work pays off, and it fills me with so much joy that we got to put those flowers in, and when I get to see all the green bags pile up, it makes me feel so much pride for Myrtle Beach,” Vu said.

Vu said she’s been volunteering now for three years.
“...I know it’s going to [be] warm and sweaty, but it’s so much fun, and you’re doing something really great for the community,” Vu said.
Keep Myrtle Beach Beautiful will hold its next event on May 31. It will be a beach sweep.
