Lace up your shoes for the annual Historic Georgetown Bridge 2 Bridge Race
GEORGETOWN, SC (WMBF) - Hundreds are lacing up their tennis shoes for charity in the 11th annual Historic Georgetown Bridge 2 Bridge Race.
The half marathon is making a return on Saturday, along with the traditional 5k and 12k run.
There’s also a free one-mile fun run for kids.
This year, the run will benefit the Christian nonprofit Friendship Place.
The nonprofit addresses unmet needs in the community, such as food insecurity and literacy for youth, and provides resources to those in need.
Friendship Place Executive Director Marie Livingston said it’s great to see everyone come out for a good cause.
“It’s pure excitement,” Livingston said. “Seeing the togetherness of Georgetown, to see one Georgetown come together for one common cause, which is to support and uplift Friendship Place as well as the healthy and wellness aspects of participating within this event.”
Livingston said more than 750 people are already signed up for the race, and you can still sign up until 6:45 a.m. Saturday morning. The 12k and half marathon start at 7 a.m., and the 5k starts at 7:30 a.m.
All runners will start at the Rice Museum Clock Tower on Front Street.
